Temperature Seasonality Diminishment over Northern Lands

This image shows temperature seasonality diminishment of Arctic and Boreal regions using Victoria Island and Arctic Sweden as examples. It should be interpreted as follows.

The annual temperature profile of the entire Arctic belt (of which Victoria Island is a part of) during the years 1951 to 1980 (a reference period) resembled the annual temperature profile of lands north of 65N (excluding ice sheets). By the decade 2001 to 2010, the annual temperature profile of the Arctic resembled the annual temperature profile of lands north of 61N during the reference period (1951 to 1980). This diminishment of temperature seasonality is shown in the figure as a 4.5 degree latitude displacement of Victoria Island equatorward.

By the decade 2091 to 2099, the annual temperature profile of the entire Arctic belt is projected by 17 state-of-the-art climate models to resemble the annual temperature profile of lands north of 42N (excluding ice sheets) during the reference period (1951 to 1980). This puts Victoria Island symbolically in Montana, USA.

The figure also symbolically shows temperature seasonality diminishment of the part of Sweden north of the Arctic circle, as latitudinal displacements equatorward. This should not be interpreted as, Arctic Sweden will have the same temperature seasonality in the decade 2091 to 2099 as the South of France did during the reference period (1951 to 1980). Instead, it should be interpreted as explained above.

The figure is meant to help understand the scientific article. Strictly speaking, it is not correct because picking any particular region (Victoria Island or Arctic Sweden) violates the heliocentric definitions of seasonality used in the article.
